Eastern Switzerland, Spitzmeilenhütte

During these two days, we will be out and about together in the field with the aim of experiencing, learning and directly applying as much as possible. You have the opportunity to become active yourself, make decisions and be supported at all times. We clarify open questions and important topics in a practical way on site - exactly where they are relevant.

If you have already gained some experience on a ski tour and would like to deepen your knowledge of avalanche awareness, tour planning and ski touring technique, this is the right place for you. Depending on the interests of the participants, we will cover different aspects of ski touring - from safe track setting and avalanche assessment to tour planning and downhill technique. All you need is curiosity, motivation and a desire to learn outdoors.

The area around the Spitzmeilenhütte above Flumserberg in the canton of St. Gallen offers ideal conditions for training and touring at the same time. Between gently rolling slopes and striking peaks such as the Spitzmeilen, Magerrain or Wissmeilen, there are varied touring routes for all levels. The region is known for its clear terrain, favourable avalanche conditions and fantastic views from Lake Walen to the Glarus Alps. Perfect conditions for directly combining theory and practice.

For optimum preparation, we recommend that you attend a Avalanche theory evening to take part. The 2-day course is compact and practice-orientated. For more in-depth and comprehensive training with additional application tours, we recommend the 4-day training course in Safiental or the Training week in Sedrun.

Come with us to the Spitzmeilen area - where learning becomes experience, knowledge becomes security and a group becomes a real community.

  • Cathrin Kreis

  • Ursi von Mengershausen

It was a perfect weekend with a snowstorm and poor visibility on Saturday, but great weather on Sunday - with a high avalanche level, the ideal conditions for learning about safety aspects and avalanche awareness together. Ronny guided us perfectly through the weekend, I never felt unsafe and learnt a lot.
  • Tina Spichtig

  • Ludwig Knott

Great ski tour around Spitzmeilen. The mountain guide (Philip) was well prepared, translated everything into English and we felt very safe despite the sometimes adverse conditions.
  • Christoph Denzler

I can highly recommend attending an avalanche training course. You get a solid grounding in theory as well as a practical introduction to the correct use of the tools and aids available. The focus is always on direct application in practice. At the same time, touring and skiing are not neglected - a perfect mix!
  • Sarah Schwendener

I have attended everything from avalanche theory and deep snow technique courses to beginner touring courses at bergschaft. The courses were always well organised and the mountain guides imparted knowledge combined with fun. My first ski tour with bergschaft was simply breathtaking ????Simon (König), our mountain guide, taught the theory in combination with the practical application very easily. It was the perfect opportunity for me to get to grips with touring and I always felt at ease. I am so enthusiastic about this experience that it will definitely not be my last ski tour!
